Sensational Sutton Squash stars are cream of the county

A big congratulations to Sutton Coldfield Squash Club men’s first team who have clinched the Warwickshire First Division title.

They fought off spirited campaigns by Birmingham University and West Warwickshire to triumph in a three-horse title race.

Sutton won 15 out of 18 ties this season and their five regulars were club touring pro Jaymie Haycocks, club head squash coach Chris Hall, Marcus Hayes, Andrew Murray and Nigel Stephens.

Ashlee Harris, rising juniors Kieran Mullis and Zach Marshall, Rob Alger and Haroon Rashid also featured throughout the winter campaign.

Both Haycocks and Hall showed great consistency to remain unbeaten throughout the season at numbers one and two.

Hayes and Murray, meanwhile have both been selected to represent England at over-35 and over-50 age categories respectively.

The first team players would like to thank the continued support from team sponsors Aston and Fincher, Ipro Sports and Bespoke Office Space Solutions (BOSS).

There are also been plenty of success for Sutton’s second team, who won the Division three title.

The side suffered a slow start to the season, losing four of their opening five matches, all 3-2, but they then went on an incredible streak, winning all remaining 13 contests to finish as Division Three champions by just four points.

Kieran Mullis, winning an impressive 14 out of 18 matches and Matt Heap, taking 11 of 14, led the way.

The third team have achieved promotion to Division Three, only losing two matches all season with Harry Lucas and Mark Watkins the standout performers.

The fourth team acheive a mid-table position in Division Four, winning half of their 18 games with George Webb winning six out of his last seven matches.

Thanks and Congratulations to all players and supports for a fantastic season and we look forward to the next one with much excitement.
